Team

Our Founders

Moran Equity Partners was built by two professionals whose careers, though shaped by different institutions, converged on the same insight: developers and builders in South Carolina and North Carolina deserved access to capital that moved like a partner, not a bureaucracy. Tim came from the trading floor. Jack came from inside the banking system. Together, they saw the same gap from different angles—and built MEP to close it.

Jack Moran

Co-Founder

Jack Moran is a co-founder of Moran Equity Partners and brings more than 35 years of experience across banking, finance, and executive leadership. He is known for being both strategic and deeply practical — helping leadership teams set direction, pressure-test assumptions, and translate decisions into actions that move the numbers.

Earlier in his career, Jack served as Director, Executive Vice President, and CFO of two community banks — helping build one institution from start-up to more than $1 billion in assets and supporting its successful IPO in 2005 and another through a turnaround from many difficulties due to the financial crisis. Before that, he held senior finance roles at The Anchor Bank and began his career as a bank examiner with the South Carolina State Board of Financial Institutions. That examiner background continues to shape the way he works today — regulator-aware, risk-smart, and grounded in how institutions actually get evaluated.

At Moran Equity Partners, Jack brings that same rigor to every engagement — seeking and working with development partners as well as developing strong relationships with home builders. Family offices value his discretion and plain-spoken approach. He helps principals and advisors cut through complexity, make confident decisions, and stay aligned on policy, risk, and cash.

Jack holds an MBA in Finance and a B.S. in Accounting from the University of South Carolina and is an honor graduate of LSU's Graduate School of Banking of the South. He has also served the industry as a long-time instructor at the South Carolina Bankers School. Outside of work, Jack loves spending time with his family and enjoys playing golf and going to the beach.

Tim Moran

Tim Moran

Co-Founder

Tim Moran is a co-founder of Moran Equity Partners and brings more than 30 years of experience across capital markets, risk, and execution-driven decision-making. He is known for a steady, disciplined approach—evaluating opportunities through the lens of risk-adjusted returns, managing risk thoughtfully, and staying accountable to outcomes.

Earlier in his career, Tim was an options trader at Susquehanna International Group, where he progressed from market maker to Head of Floor Brokerage on the New York Stock Exchange. That background shaped the way he works today. Fast when it matters, rigorous in how decisions get made, and grounded in real-world market dynamics.

At Moran Equity Partners, Tim focuses on bringing that same rigor to every transaction—maintaining tight alignment with partners, staying close to execution, and holding investments to the standard he would apply to his own capital. He approaches deals the way great operators do, with preparation, disciplined underwriting, and a constant focus on protecting downside while creating durable value.

Tim holds a B.A. from Seton Hall University, where he was a four-year member of the university golf team. Outside of work, he enjoys time with his wife and two daughters, and he still makes room for golf, travel, and skiing.
